The Schlegel Family | Golden Ponds Nature Area Family Photos | Colorado Family Photographer
As I play catch-up on all of my previous sessions, that have yet to be blogged, I have another awesome family that I got to photograph last summer. Meet the Schlegel Family, which include Tabitha, Leroy and Jordyn. I’ve known this family for several years and photographed them a few times. For this family photography session, we met at Golden Ponds Nature Area in Longmont, Colorado. This sort of turned into an extended family session with Tabitha’s parent’s (Jordyn’s grandparents), Mark and Sandra, getting in some of the photos as well.
Golden Ponds is a great little park in Longmont with some lakes to fish, trails to hike, and it even has it’s own waterfall. We started out by taking photos near the waterfall area of the park. The water was pretty raging at this time so we had to be careful where we went but it definitely makes for a cool backdrop. Afterwards, we moved up by the bridge that crosses over the creek that the waterfall flows into. I don’t know about you, but I kind of think bridges are sort of awesome. Tabitha had a neat idea that she really wanted to capture during the shoot as well. She brought along a large picture frame for her daughter Jordyn to hold. The idea was that I take a photo of Jordyn holding the frame. I would then photoshop another picture from the session into the picture frame. We did a few different setups, where I also had Tabitha holding the frame and then Sandra holding the frame. I thought it was a cute and creative idea and the end results that turned out really well.
