Happy Halloween!

Before you go out to collect all the candy possible, take a moment to check out Kyley & Brian’s amazing Boulder Backyard Wedding and reception at The Mediterranean Restaurant. I’ve known Kyley & Brian for a few years now and they are both dear friends of mine and I was very honored when they asked me to photograph their wedding at the beginning of the summer.

When we first talked about their wedding plans, they expressed that they wanted to keep it low key and intimate. They wanted to be surrounded by the most important people in their lives which is their family and friends. Kyley’s parent’s house ended up being the perfect spot for them to have their ceremony and if you continue on you’ll see why with the amazing property that they own in Boulder.

It was a perfect summer day for their Boulder Backyard Wedding and luckily it wasn’t too hot outside yet. Kyley was getting ready in the main house with her mom and her sister while Brian was outside helping with finishing up some of the ceremony setup. They decided they didn’t want to do a first look so we had to make sure they stayed away from each other before the ceremony. Once Kyley had her dress on (which she looked amazing in) we headed out the back door to get some bridal portraits. We also got some photos of her and her Maid of Honor & sister, Chelsea as well as some pictures with her mom and brother.

While we were getting those portraits, guests started to arrive for the ceremony. One of things that the couple had was one of those cute Fuji Instax Camera’s for their guests to take photos for their guest book. I’ve been seeing these cute camera’s more and more at weddings and I think it’s such a great idea. It reminds me of when people use to put the disposable cameras at guest tables to let guests take photos…except these are like little Polaroid pictures.

The ceremony went off without a hitch and the look on Brian’s face when he saw Kyley walking down the aisle was priceless. I always love getting the a picture of the groom’s face when he see’s his bride walking towards him (bonus points if the groom cries). Kyley’s brother Luke officiated the wedding for them and they hired some students from the Music Department of Colorado University. They had a lovely and intimate ceremony which was exactly what they wanted.

After the ceremony was done, we followed with family portraits and then bridal party portraits. I wanted to try and spend the majority of the time for couple’s portraits with Kyley & Brian. With such an amazing backyard, I wanted to take advantage of the scenery we had surrounding it. It’s no wonder why they chose it to have their intimate Boulder Backyard Wedding.

Once portraits were done, everyone headed to the reception which was held at The Mediterranean Restaurant in Boulder. This was one of their favorite restaurants located on Pearl Street and it has some amazing food. Everyone enjoyed the company, food and drinks and even the amazing cakes that Kyley’s mom, Deb made for everyone.
